Tema acestei opere lirice este condi?ia uman?, privit? prin trei perspective: cea a copilului, a tân?rului ?i a b?trânului. Autorul sintetizeaz? via?a omului ca pe o combina?ie a trei factori, de egal? importan??: Iubirea, Jocul ?i În?elepciunea.
Prima voce liric? este cea a copilului:
"Copilul râde:
În?elepciunea ?i iubirea mea e jocul!"
Compararea în?elepciunii ?i a iubirii cu un joc pune în eviden?? faptul c? jocul apar?ine ?i laturii cognitive a omului, dar ?i a celei afective. Prin acest mijloc de percepere a realit??ii, copilul exploreaz? universul înconjur?tor, î?i în?elege func?ionarea propriului corp ?i î?i exteriorizeaz? convingerile. De asemenea, el î?i însu?e?te bazele func?ion?rii societ??ii ?i anumite principii de via??. În joc î?i are originea ?i caracterul de fiin?? social? al omului. Tot prin intermediul jocului, copiii con?tientizeaz? no?iunile de Bine ?i R?u. Sintagma ce încheie al doilea vers, "iubirea mea e jocul!", arat? c? aceast? activitate ludic? reprezint? un stil de via?? al celei dintâi vârste a omului. În cazul celei de-a doua strofe ("Tân?rul cânt?: / Jocul ?i-n?elepciunea mea-i iubirea!"), o parte din tr?s?turile esen?iale ale unui joc se p?streaz?, o parte, nu. Libertatea ?i pasiunea se p?streaz?, dar regulilse sunt abandonate. O tr?s?tur? important? a acestei "lupte" este dorin?a juc?torilor de a se întrece reciproc, pentru câ?tigarea unui premiu abstract: afec?iunea celuilalt. Asemeni fiin?elor vii, jocul evolueaz?: din jocul simplu, inocent, dezinteresat, ia na?tere jocul sentimental, cu un scop bine definit. jocuri pentru copii
